EXAME - Brasil tem um dos piores índices de proficiência em inglês do mundo

São Paulo – O Brasil ostenta um dos piores índices de proficiência na língua inglesa do mundo. É o que indica pesquisa da escola e agência de intercâmbios Education First (EF).

De acordo com o estudo, os brasileiros receberam nota média de 47,27 no índice English Proficiency Index (EPI) – desempenho inferior ao apresentado por participantes de países como Argentina, Costa Rica e República Tcheca.

Falar inglês é, cada vez mais, um requisito básico para atuar em negócios internacionais, mas um novo estudo mostra que há grandes disparidades na fluência do idioma em diferentes partes do mundo. Os países escandinavos têm o maior domínio do inglês entre os países de língua não inglesa, enquanto a Rússia, a Turquia e os países da América do Sul são os que mais deixam a desejar nesse quesito, apontou um estudo divulgado na quarta-feira pela EF English First, a maior escola de ensino de inglês do mundo.

The Financial Times - China: better English students than India?

When the British Council published a study saying China had more English speakers than India readers with experience of both countries wondered aloud where China was hiding all those Anglophones. Even in Shanghai, with its British colonial past, taxi drivers are about as likely to speak English as they are to obey traffic signs; neither has really caught on.

Now comes another study about how China is drawing neck and neck with India – and eroding the comparative advantage of the sub-continent.
